Volti di Palmira ad Aquileia
Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Aquileia. 02/07/2017 – 03/10/2017
The exhibition is curated by Marta Novello and Cristiano Tiussi, in collaboration with Fondazione Aquileia and the “Polo Museale” of Friuli Venezia Giulia-Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Aquileia, and thanks to the loans from the Terra Sancta Museum of Jerusalem, the Vatican Museums, the Musei Capitolini, the Museo delle Civiltà-Collezioni di Arte Orientale “Giuseppe Tucci”, the Museo di Scultura Antica “Giovanni Barracco”, the Civico Museo Archeologico of Milan and a private collection. It presents 16 original pieces from Palmira, some of them are back together for the first time after being dispersed in different western collections, and 8 from Aquileia. The distance between the two cities doesn’t prevent to show the same cultural substratum with their auto-representative models and similar iconographic formulas.
